DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders)

A manual published by the American Psychiatric Association that standardizes psychiatric diagnostic categories and criteria.

Dual Diagnosis

A term used when a person has both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder. Treating both conditions simultaneously is crucial for effective recovery.

Dysthymia (Persistent Depressive Disorder)

A continuous long-term form of depression. Symptoms of dysthymia are similar to those of major depression but are less severe and last for a longer period.
